8 Best Restaurants & Places To Eat In Guatapé

Guatapé is one of Colombia’s sweetest towns, and it is home to lots of cozy and colorful restaurants.

I spent 4 days exploring the city and trying out the best-rated places to eat, and here is my selection of the 7 best restaurants in Guatapé!

TL;DR? Here are 3 of my favorite places to eat in Guatapé
🍽️ Lunch & Dinner: Don Oscar
☕️ Coffee: Oh La La
🍦 Desert: Mix Cheladas

Lunch & Dinner

Here are some of the best restaurants in Guatapé. Whether you’re looking for quick grab-and-go bites or authentic local cuisine, these first five dining spots have something for everyone.

1. Best overall: Don Oscar

Bar-style seating at a second-floor balcony overlooking water and mountains.

📍 Location: Cl. 31 #30-10
Specialty: Steak & cocktails
💸 Price: COP 44K – COP 105K (USD 10 – 24) per dish

Don Oscar might just be the most famous restaurant in Guatapé, and it is so for good reason!

They serve delicious food, especially steak, at a very reasonable price tag. Don Oscar’s bar is also famous, but I cannot comment on that reputation as I did not get to try their specialty drinks!

Another plus to Don Oscar is that their facilities are large and have a nice view of the water.

If you can only have one meal in Guatapé, Don Oscar is a fantastic place to go to.

2. Best for brunch: Guatacrep

Outdoor seating at restaurant with boho-style decor. Wooden tables and bamboo decorations.

📍 Location: Cra. 27a #30-71
Specialty: Savory crepes
💸 Price: COP 18K – COP 25K (USD 4 – 6) per crepe

Guatacrepe is my favorite breakfast and brunch spot in town. They have all-day breakfast (who does not love that?) and their menu goes beyond crepes.

There, you’ll find a variety of other breakfast foods such as baguette sandwiches and waffles!

If you’re looking for something a bit heavier, their menu also includes lasagna.

3. Best for families: Zona G

📍 Location: Cl. 31 #02 31
Specialty: Pizza, but their menu is very extensive and includes many steak cuts!
💸 Price: COP 24K – COP 60K (USD 10 – 13) per dish

Zona G offers the most diverse menu I’ve seen in Guatapé! It’s the perfect spot for large groups since there’s something to satisfy everyone’s taste.

Also, Zona G has a little playground area, making it an amazing restaurant for families with kids.

Their menu is very kid-friendly, featuring simple dishes like Salchipapas (a favorite among Colombian kids) and milkshakes. As someone with ARFID, I very much appreciated their simple dishes.

4. Wildcard: Handai Cocina Asiatica

Indoor table at a minimalistic restaurant. On the back there are shelfs selling asian spicies and rice.

📍 Location: Cra. 32 #31-24
Specialty: Asian food
💸 Price: COP 23K – COP 50K (USD 6 – 12) per dish

I know that you’re not heading to Colombia hoping to eat Asian food, but I promise that Handai is worth a stop.

There, I ate a pork cutlet which was the best meal from my entire trip through Colombia! It comes as a plus that the amazing dish only costs 22.4K COP, about 6 USD.

5. Best pizza: New York Pizza

📍 Location: 57, Antioquia
Specialty: Pizza
💸 Price: COP 50K (USD 12) per 8-piece pizza. They also sell individual slices!

New York Pizza serves a top-rated thin-crust pizza.

I tasted their pepperoni pizza and absolutely loved it!

It is an amazing place for solo travelers to head to for pizza, as they also sell individual slices.

Snacks & Dessert

Colombia is famous for its coffee, and Guatapé is known for its artisanal ice cream. At the next three cafes and shops, you can taste the best the region has to offer!

6. Best Cafe: Oh La La

Colorful small cafe with two girls sitting outside

📍 Location: Calle 31, Calle Bodegas #31-54
Specialty: Coffee
💸 Price: COP 4K – 15K (USD 1 – 4) per coffee drink

Oh La La is a small cafe and art gallery, with great coffee and an amazing location in Guatapé.

In Fact, Oh La La is located on the most Instagrammable street in Guatapé, which features many colorful buildings and overhead decorations.

This is where I’d go to recharge with coffee and get some work done!

7. Best Ice Cream: Mix Cheladas

Lilac small shot with many colorful drawings on the wall.

📍 Location: Cl. 31 #29-31
Specialty: Artisanal popsicles
💸 Price: COP 9K (USD 2) per artisanal popsicle

Guatapé is famous for its artisanal ice cream, and I headed to Mix Cheladas to try out the town’s specialty.

I ordered a Dulce de Leche popsicle for 9K COP (about 2 USD), and it was the best popsicle I’ve ever had! The popsicle was covered with creamy dulce de leche and the base was the perfect amount of sweet.

When in Guatapé, you can’t miss out on trying artisanal ice cream, and Mix Cheladas is the perfect place to do it!

8. Best Frozen Yogurt: Montano Yogurt Griego

Green and white shop with small bar tables inside.

📍 Location: Cl. 30 #28-14
Specialty: Greek yogurt
💸 Price: COP 15K (USD 4)

I’m a big fan of frozen yogurt, and I was happy to find a good spot for it in the tiny town of Guatapé!

Their yogurt is artisanal and very tasty! I found it to be sweeter than usual, but still quite delicious.

Pro tip: Montano has another unit where they sell an amazing brunch – If you love their artisanal yogurt, it might be a good idea to also try their meals!
