Nice to meet you! I’m Lo Lee
I have been traveling Brazil from a young age and started exploring the world on my own at 16 when I first moved to Germany to study abroad. Since then, I’ve visited over 50 countries, earned two architectural engineering university degrees, and worked full-time in the United States.
All that until I had a burnout-led life crisis and started a 6-month long backpacking trip through South America, hoping to calm down and find out what my life should look like moving forward. Now, I am back in the US with my husband and continue traveling and sharing my experiences.
My most common travel destinations: My husband is Korean and I am Brazilian, so we always try to squeeze in at least one trip to Brazil, Korea and Japan every year!
Where I’ve lived
I’ve been a nomad since childhood, always moving to different cities within Brazil due to my parent’s jobs. As an adult, I kept things moving and lived alone in multiple countries!
- Brazil: Curitiba, São Luís, Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, and Três Lagoas in Mato Grosso do Sul
- United States: Philadelphia, State College in Pennsylvania, and Salt Lake City
- Italy: Rome
- Germany: Wuppertal
My travel blogging philosophy
My favorite travel destinations are centered around nature and wildlife, but I also enjoy exploring cities and appreciating local architecture—after all, I graduated in architectural engineering in college!
My blog is where I share unfiltered photos, opinions, and guides, showing the real side of travel—both the beauty and the mess.
I’m all about budget-conscious travel, but I’m not into extreme sacrifice—no sleeping on benches or living off rice and beans. I explore the world without breaking the bank, making travel accessible and relaxing.
Why Carry Oner?
Well, I’m too bougie (and weak) to be a real backpacker, and I am too broke (and lazy) to travel around with a checked suitcase. In my travels, I just bring a carry on!
Where I’ve been!
I’ve been to 50+ countries and wrote about my experiences traveling many of them:
- Brazil: My birth country that I return to yearly! Brazil was also the best destination of my backpacking trip so far because I got to explore many of the country’s hidden gems. So far, I had an amazing time:
- Meeting wild jaguars in Porto Jofre
- Snorkeling in crystal-clear waters in Bonito
- Going on waterfall trails full of macaws in Chapada dos Guimarães
- Visiting my parents and exploring Curitiba (and the nearby island “Ilha do Mel“)
- Getting completely soaked going under the Iguazu Falls
- Exploring Brazil’s futuristic/dystopian capital city, Brasilia
- Chile: Home of some of my favorite sights in South America – Atacama, Patagonia, and amazing whale watching!
- Colombia: A country that inspired me to overcome the past and embrace a colorful future.
- Ecuador (specifically Galapagos): amazing wildlife encounters and my favorite travel destination in the world!
- Japan: stopovers in Japan are mandatory during my yearly trips to visit my in-laws in Korea I find soaking in Hokkaido’s onsens is one of the most reenergizing things to do!
- Philippines: Where I got my scuba diving certificate and fell deeper in love with the ocean. The two weeks I spent in the Philippines were essential in my depression recovery, making the country one of my favorites on Earth.
- United States: The US was my home for 7 years, and I got to explore a ton of what the country has to offer.
- My first real hike was the Emerald Pools Trail in Zion National Park, so the park has a special place in my heart!
