Full guide to Kawasan Falls Canyoneering: everything you need to know!
The Kawasan Falls Canyoneering tour is one of my top 3 activities in the Philippines! This is a must-visit tour for anyone exploring Cebu, and you can go on this tour as a day trip from either Moalboal or Cebu City.

What is Kawasan Falls canyoneering?
The Kawasan Falls canyoneering tour is all about jumping, sliding, and swimming across many blue-water waterfalls. It is an incredibly fun tour, and no previous canyoneering experience is needed to join!
The blue water and the jumps are not the only impressive things on this tour. You also get to enjoy stunning rock formations and the incredible greenery surrounding the falls.
How hard is canyoneering?
Canyoneering in Kawasan Falls is beginner-friendly and can be done by anyone who does not have mobility limitations. I even saw a 60-year-old lady doing it! Some of the bigger jumps can be a bit scary, but you do have the option to avoid them. For those big jumps, there are stairs that serve as an alternative way to continue the trail.
I am quite a sedentary person and had no issue completing the tour. However, it is important to note that I was completely sore for the next two days! My body had no issues walking, swimming, and jumping, but recovering was painful!
If you are not used to going on hikes or exercising at all, I recommend scheduling your Kawasan Falls canyoneering tour before some relax-only days to allow your body to recover.
How high is the jump at Kawasan canyoneering?
There are about 10 jumps in Kawasan Falls, ranging from 1 meter (~3ft) to 12 meters (~39 ft) in height. If you are scared of the bigger jumps, you can simply avoid them by using stairs as an alternative!
Do I need to know how to swim to go canyoneering?
It is not necessary to know how to swim to go canyoneering in Kawasan Falls! Everyone is required to wear lifejackets during the tour, so you are only floating and jumping as opposed to actually swimming!
Do I need a tour to go canyoneering in Kawasan Falls?
To go canyoneering in Kawasan Falls, you are required to hire a guide or join a group tour! Although there is the option of accessing one or two waterfalls by only paying an entrance fee, those are nothing compared to what you see while canyoneering.
How much is canyoneering in Kawasan Falls?
The canyoneering tour in Kawasan Falls runs at about 2100 pesos (~36 USD) per person. This price includes transportation to the entrance of the park, guides, gear (water shoes, helmet, life jacket), and a lunch at the end of the adventure. In the basic tour, you go on a 15-minute walk from the park entrance until you reach the canyoneering falls.
For an extra 600 PHP (31 USD), you can skip the 15-minute walk and get to the falls in 1 minute via the Badian Zipline. This zipline spans over 1 kilometer (0.62 miles) and is by far the easiest way to get to the falls.
The Kawasan Falls tour prices are regulated by the government, and shopping around will not get you a better price! Believe me, I tried.
One important thing to notice though is that the price is 2100 pesos per person no matter how many people go! So, if you are in a group of 2 or 3, you can negotiate with the tour company to score a private tour for the price of a group tour! We were a group of 2 and were able to land this amazing deal! By going on a private tour, we were able to beat the crowds and enjoy the raw beauty of the falls.
How many hours is Kawasan canyoneering?
If leaving from Moalboal, the full tour lasts up to 6 hours. The Kawasan Falls canyoneering tour is a half-day activity, typically done in the morning.
We started our tour already from Kawasan Falls, so our tour timeline looked like this:
- 8:30 AM – 8:45 AM: Gear up and heading to the falls
- 8:45 AM – 9:00 AM: Walki to the falls
- 9:00 AM – 11:20 AM: In water canyoneering. Be mindful that you don’t spend all this time inside the water, there are little areas in between falls where you walk. In those land areas, you can sit and buy some snacks!
- 11:20 AM – 12:00 PM: Returning to the tour agency to return the gear and enjoy a delicious lunch.
What to wear on a Kawasan canyoneering tour?
You can show up to your Kawasan Falls canyoneering tour in your regular swimwear! Although there is no need for specialized gear, here is what I’d wear if I were to go canyoneering again.

- No-string bikini: While canyoneering, my cute string bikini kept untying itself! Happily, I had my boyfriend tie it back for me, but it was still quite annoying. Next time, I will be wearing my beloved Everlane Bikini or a one-piece swimsuit.
- UV shirt: Most of the canyoneering tour at Kawasan Falls is spent floating under the shining sun. To avoid the risks of sun exposure, I’d wear a UV shirt next time!
What to bring to the canyoneering tour?
- A waterproof phone case that keeps your phone safe and allows you to take lots of underwater pictures!
- A mini dry-pack bag to bring essentials such as sunscreen, sunglasses, and cash
- Water shoes if you are like me and don’t like to put on the soggy rented shoes. Although the canyoneering tour provides free water shoe rental, I always enjoy having my own water shoes. During my 2-week Philippines itinerary, I found use for these shoes in at least half of the tours!
- An action camera if you are into action photography! After my trip to the Philippines, I purchased the amazing (and affordable) DJI Osmo 4 action camera to get high-quality photographs and films of my adventures.
I wish you the most fun as you enjoy your Kawasan Falls Canyoneering tour!
